Lamp made from an antique wooden foundry mold of a part for a DROTT excavator or bulldozer.
Drott was a pioneer in heavy equipment manufacturing from 1916 to 1968, after which time they were aquired by Case.
This mold was used to make iron parts for one model of these massive machines. The paint is the original, with obvious signs of wear, chipping and dry cracking.
I did not want to repaint or resurface as that would ruin the character of this piece. I did cover the plain backside of the lamp in felt, put pads on the bottom, and waxed the paint to bring out the shine. Currently it has a half mirrored bulb to reduce glare.
It is configured as a desk or accent lamp, but could easily be converted to a wall sconce. When ordering, specify how you plan to use, and I can put hanging hardware on the back and install a smaller (in diameter) bulb for hanging on the wall.
